Juventus, Bayern Munich & the other clubs who could sign Dimitar Berbatov

July 25, 2011 - 0:0

For a player who won the Premier League and ended the season with a share of the Golden Boot there hasn't been much to smile about this summer for Dimitar Berbatov. Ever since being dropped entirely for the Champions League final, in favour of Michael Owen who didn't get a kick, the Bulgarian has been tipped to exit Old Trafford stage left.

Remain at Manchester United Name a player who has fallen foul of Sir Alex Ferguson and continued to have a career with the Red Devils? Strikers like Dwight Yorke & Ruud van Nistelrooy were moved on after losing their place at the club and Berbatov's omission from United's biggest game of the season certainly raised eyebrows. Then again he did score bags of goals last year and if he was going to move surely it would have happened by now. Wouldn't it?
Juventus Serie A's old lady intend to spend big after a dismal two seasons and have been linked with a move for the Bulgarian hitman. Previous target Sergio Aguero is unlikely to move to the Turin giants so a capture of Berbatov would send out a signal of intent under their latest coach Antonio Conte. Forwards like Luca Toni and Amauri haven't convinced the Bianconeri faithful while Berbatov could link up well with fellow new recruit Andrea Pirlo.
Tottenham Hotspur Yes, you did read that correct. Spurs fans were sore at the manner of Berbatov's departure three years ago but both parties have done well since so a reconciliation should not be ruled out entirely. Harry Redknapp likes to bring players back to White Hart Lane, especially strikers. Just ask Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.
Bayern Munich While it seems like a lifetime ago it has been a whole decade since the forward moved from CSKA Sofia to Bayer Leverkusen. He failed to win any silverware with the club nicknamed 'Neverkusen' due to their trophy-shy ways and was a substitute in their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in 2002. His then team-mate Michael Ballack moved to Bayern that summer and Berbatov has frequently been touted with making the same transfer to Bavaria. The German giants do already have plenty of strikers such as Mario Gomez and Nils Petersen to name just a few. Unlikely.
